Self Care Made Easy: Have Fun

Self-care is a word that is increasing in popularity and becoming mainstream. It can be defined as the act of caring for yourself to stay healthy. You must acknowledge incoming symptoms, book appointments at the doctor, and pay attention to the needs of your body and mind.

For a word like self-care, although the idea of it is to promote health for the individual self, it is commonly misunderstood as selfish. It is to live well. To have the ability to enjoy life, do work, and take care of oneself and others is not selfish, and should not be seen as that.

Self-care can improve physical health, decrease stress and anxiety, and preserve mental health. In a world that never sleeps, those benefits are very helpful. With hundreds even thousands of emails per weekend, work life is taxing. It becomes a burden on the mind fast and can cause negative effects. Self-care helps to keep life enjoyable because it can be thought of as having fun.

Importance of fun

Why? Because if you do what you like to do for fun, your mood will increase. I think if self-care is thought of in this way, it will not become a burden.

Although things like exercise, sleeping, and eating healthy are important to one’s health, self-care does not have to be so rigid. It can include a wider variety of acts, one which is doing what you want to do, like having fun.

Something as simple as playing sports can have many health benefits; so self-care is more than the traditional way of health. It promotes healthy living through an enjoyable and sustainable life.

It’s hard to do when work and daily tasks are constantly on the mind, so reserving time to practice self-care, in the form of fun activities, relieves that pressure and stress. It allows for at least one activity that you could look forward to or a simple chance to smile and laugh.

In a world full of anxiety, depression, and stress, having fun can become a very big asset to reduce those things even slightly. It allows a person to shift their focus on something they actually like and enjoy. Even if it is only for that moment, it helps to keep you happy. Something that is important to your mental health.

last reminder

Self-care is understated. The act of taking care of oneself is pertinent to health. It is a process that promotes health in the form of attending regular medical appointments, thinking positively, and being physically healthy. Yet the definition of self-care should not stop there. It is also the process to live well and happily by having a little fun. From medical to fun, self-care is not limited to one approach. It is fluid and different for every person, but having fun is a universal way that self-care can make a difference. So live a little. Find enjoyment in life. By doing that I think you will find yourself happy that you started. In simpler terms, who doesn’t like having fun? That is reason enough.
